Banksy New York Works Modified… Cheap Stunt or Just More Street Art?.

The paint hasn’t even dried and already Banksy’s works in New York have been modified by various ‘artists and crews’. Obviously Banksy’s pieces are now being targeted to gain some quick fire publicity but is it necessary to deface a Banksy? Or do you think by Banksy using the public domain to show his work everyone is entitled to express themselves even if it does change the original work?

The feeling here is that if the ‘art’ that changes the Banksy is up to the standard of Banksy then go ahead but don’t go and de-face the work with cheap stunts that look decidedly s**t!

Yeah…I’d have to agree, but at the same time that’s the nature of street art…it’s out there for anyone/everyone…even guys like “poster boy”. Sadly he could get just as much publicity of his own without pasting his ugly mug right on top Banksy’s work. “Douche” comes to mind for some reason.
    Peace
